Executive Director
Leandro Spina
Leandro Spina is a leading figure in American youth sailing development and currently serves as the Executive Director of America One Racing, where he leads high-performance initiatives aimed at developing the next generation of Olympic-level sailors. A longtime advocate for systematic talent development, Spina is the architect behind several groundbreaking programs that have reshaped the U.S. youth sailing landscape.
Under Spina’s leadership, Project Podium has created a rigorous, athlete-focused environment that bridges the gap between youth success and elite performance on the international stage. Spina continues to play a central role in the launch and evolution of national-level training and performance programs designed to accelerate the development of young sailors with Olympic potential. Through his work with the America One Foundation, Spina helped launch Project Pipeline – a pioneering effort to identify and nurture high-potential youth athletes through targeted training, international racing exposure and long-term coaching mentorship. This program laid the groundwork for the domestic best-ever performances at the Youth Sailing World Championships, where U.S. sailors captured multiple medals and earned the coveted Nations Trophy in 2018.
Spina has continued to expand America One Racing’s mission with the introduction of next-generation foiling pathways, incorporating classes like WingFoil, Waszp, Switch and IQFoil to maintain American athletes on the cutting edge of Olympic sailing. His vision includes accessible, high-impact training camps across the country aimed to build domestic depth, foster squad culture, and establish a clear pathway from youth sailing to the Olympic podium. Known for his collaborative spirit, Spina has mentored hundreds of young sailors, coaches and performance teams, all while fostering a culture of excellence, humility and long-term athlete development.

Charlie McKee is a two-time Olympic medalist and one of the most respected minds in high-performance sailing. He currently serves as Head Coach at America One Racing, where he leads athlete development for Project Podium, focused on delivering medal success at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Coach
Klaus Lange
Klaus Lange’s coaching is rooted in a lifelong immersion in Olympic sailing, shaped by both personal achievement and a deep family legacy. Raised in Argentina, he grew up alongside his father, six-time Olympic sailor Santiago Lange, gaining early exposure to the discipline, resilience and commitment required to compete at the highest level.
After developing through the Optimist and 29er classes where he achieved international podium finishes, Lange launched an Olympic campaign in the 49er alongside his brother Yago, finishing 7th at the Rio Olympic Games. That experience at the front of Olympic competition now informs his coaching philosophy.
At A1R, Lange focuses on building performance environments that enable athletes to reach Olympic potential. His approach goes beyond technical instruction, emphasizing team culture, adaptability under pressure and the pursuit of incremental gains. He works closely with athletes to refine speed, optimize training structures and create systems that support consistent high-level performance.
Lange’s coaching stands out for its holistic perspective. He believes success is not defined by isolated results, but by the strength of the environment and the ability of athletes to evolve within it. His philosophy centers on developing resilient teams that embrace challenges, learn through competition and consistently push the limits of their performance.

Coach
JuanMa Moreno
JuanMa Moreno operates where Olympic campaigns are built: at the intersection of experience, precision and execution. With nearly two decades of coaching at the highest level, he has guided advanced-level windsurfers across multiple nations and contributed to three Olympic cycles. Before transitioning into coaching, Moreno spent 20 years competing in the RS:X Olympic class, earning Junior and Youth World Championship titles and consistently placing among the top athletes at World Cup and European Championship events. This dual perspective as both advanced-level competitor and Olympic coach shapes his approach.
At A1R, Moreno specializes in the iQFOiL class, focusing on the critical performance details that define outcomes at the highest level. His coaching is rooted in precision: aligning technical execution, equipment optimization, and race strategy into a cohesive, repeatable system. Rather than broad frameworks, he works in the margins – fine-tuning decisions, refining instincts, and preparing athletes to deliver when it matters most.
