Makani, whose name translates to “wind” in Hawaiian, is a 17-year-old from Kāneʻohe, Hawaii. Born and raised in a sailing family, Makani has been on the water from an early age, following in the footsteps of parents who met through college sailing. This spring, Makani will graduate from high school and embark on a four-year journey to pursue the dream of competing in the 2028 LA Olympics in the iQFOil Windsurfing class.

Paris Henken - 49erFX
Paris Henken, a 49erFX sailor, began sailing at age six in Dana Point, California, and quickly rose through the ranks, excelling in the 29er class with multiple championship wins. She made her Olympic debut in 2016, finishing 10th in Rio with Helena Scutt after earning bronze at the 2015 Pan American Games. Following a brief return to college sailing at the College of Charleston—where she won national titles and earned All-American honors—she launched a 2020 Olympic campaign with Anna Tobias, securing top-10 finishes at the 2019 and 2020 World Championships but narrowly missing qualification. She later returned to Charleston, winning the 2021 Women’s Fleet Race Nationals and earning Quantum Women’s College Sailor of the Year. Paris teamed up with Tobias again for the 2024 Olympic cycle, finishing 9th at the Princess Sofia Regatta but falling short of qualification. Now, she has reunited with Helena Scutt to pursue gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Noah Lyons - iQFOil
Noah Lyons, a 23-year-old iQFoil sailor from Clearwater, Florida, is aiming to represent Team USA at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. He started sailing in Optimists and 420s before transitioning to windsurfing and the 49er, where he earned a top-five finish at the 2017 Youth World Championships. In 2022, after earning a B.S. in Microbiology with a minor in Infection Control from the University of South Florida, he launched his first Olympic campaign in the iQFoil class. He went on to qualify both himself and the U.S. for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, finishing 9th. Now, with years of experience and dedicated training, he’s focused on 2028—with his sights set on bringing home a gold medal.
Ian MacDiarmid - 49er
Ian MacDiarmid is a highly accomplished American sailor specializing in the 49er class. His sailing journey began at the age of seven in the Optimist dinghy, where he developed a strong foundation in racing. Progressing through the ranks, he transitioned to the 29er youth skiff before advancing to the high-performance 49er. Throughout his career, Ian has secured three top-10 finishes at the 49er World Championships and reached a career-high World Sailing ranking of #3 in the 49er class. He is now continuing his 49er campaign alongside Nevin Snow, with their sights set on representing the United States and winning gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Noah Runciman - Formula Kite
Noah Runciman is a Formula Kite sailor on a mission for gold at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Growing up on the South Texas coast, he started sailing Optis at six, later competing in Lasers and 420s before discovering kiteboarding at 16. By 2021, he had committed to kite racing full-time, training and competing on the world stage. Alongside his Olympic pursuit, Noah is earning a Bachelor in Aviation Science while working toward becoming a commercial pilot. With unwavering determination, he’s pushing the limits on and off the water in his quest for Olympic success.
Charlotte Rose - ILCA 6
Charlotte Rose is an ILCA 6 sailor from Houston, determined to win a medal at the 2028 Olympics. She discovered her passion for sailing at nine and quickly rose through the ranks, winning back-to-back golds at the 2017 and 2018 Youth Sailing World Championships. She has since built an impressive career, earning silver at the 2019 Pan American Games, winning the 2021 ILCA North American Championship, and securing silver at the 2024 World Championship. Now fully committed to her Olympic campaign, she continues to train at the highest level while pursuing an MBA at Purdue Global University.
Helena Scutt - 49erFX
Helena is a decorated sailor and engineer balancing elite competition with cutting-edge innovation. She earned a degree in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford University before completing a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Mechatronics. Originally from Kirkland, Washington, she captained the Stanford Varsity Sailing Team to record-breaking finishes at Team Race and Coed Nationals. In 2013, she and Paris Henken launched their first Olympic campaign in the 49erFX, winning the 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials and finishing 10th at the Rio Olympics. After a short stint in the foiling Nacra 17, she transitioned to Moth sailing, claiming the Women’s World title at the 2022 Moth Worlds. In 2023, Helena joined American Magic as a Mechatronics Engineer, designing sailors’ interfaces and onboard software for the AC75 in preparation for the 37th America’s Cup. She also competed in the AC40 for the Women’s America’s Cup team. In February 2025, she and Paris reunited to launch their campaign for the LA 2028 Olympics, bringing years of experience to their second pursuit of Olympic gold.
Nevin Snow - 49er
Nevin Snow is a 31-year-old 49er sailor from San Diego, California, with a history of top performances on the world stage. Over eight seasons at Georgetown University, he became a four-time All-American, two-time College Sailor of the Year, two-time Match Race National Champion, and Fleet Race National Champion. After graduating in 2017, he transitioned to the 49er, winning athlete selection for Tokyo 2020 with Dane Wilson, though the U.S. fell just short of country qualification. He returned for Paris 2024 with Mac Agnese, finishing 3rd at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Now partnered with Ian MacDiarmid, Nevin is focused on LA 2028, pushing to represent Team USA and bring home gold.
Dominique Stater - iQFOil
Dominique is an iQFOiL athlete striving to represent Team USA at the 2028 Olympics. After discovering windsurfing in Buenos Aires in 2012, she quickly rose through the ranks, representing the U.S. at the 2018 Youth Olympics and competing at the Youth World Championships in China and Poland. While studying at the University of Miami, she found a renewed passion for windsurfing through coaching and foiling, reigniting her competitive drive. In 2022, she committed full-time to her Paris 2024 Olympic campaign, earning silver at the 2023 Pan American Games and winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials to become the first U.S. Women’s iQFOiL Olympian. Now fully focused on 2028, she continues to push her limits, training and competing at the highest level.
